WCAG 2.4.8: Location

WCAG 2.4.8 Location is a level AAA success criterion from WCAG 2.0. People can tell where they are in a set of pages, for example with a breadcrumb.

People who land from search need to know which part of the shop they are in.

How to test

Open a product. A breadcrumb or highlighted menu item should show the path.

How to fix

Add a breadcrumb that reflects the collection or parent page.

Example that fails

Product pages have no breadcrumb and the menu does not mark the section.

Example that passes the check

The breadcrumb reads Shop, Mugs, Stoneware mug.

Shopify

Enable the breadcrumb in the product template. Collection links should be real anchors.

WooCommerce

Use WooCommerce breadcrumbs and do not hide them with CSS.

WordPress

Add a breadcrumb block on content pages.

Wix

Add a breadcrumb element under the header.
