Fix missing landmarks
Landmarks let assistive technology jump to navigation or main content.
Without them, the page is one long undifferentiated stream.
Steps
- Check for header, nav and main.
- Use one main per page.
- Name extra nav regions.
Failing example
The page is only divs.
Better example
A header, a nav and a main wrap the regions.
Shopify
Shopify themes should use header, nav and main in theme.liquid. Do not wrap everything in anonymous divs.
WooCommerce
Keep the WooCommerce theme's semantic header and main.
WordPress
Use the WordPress template landmarks. Do not replace main with a div.
Wix
Wix strips should include a main region. Do not remove semantic structure with custom code.
