Fix a keyboard trap
A trap stops the keyboard inside a dialog or a player.
The person cannot reach the browser or the rest of the page.
Steps
- Tab into dialogs and chat boxes.
- Try to tab out or press Escape.
- Focus should leave.
Failing example
A newsletter modal has no close control and traps Tab.
Better example
Escape closes it and focus returns.
Shopify
Shopify popup and age-gate apps must close on Escape. Remove apps that trap focus.
WooCommerce
Test WooCommerce popup plugins and keep only those that release focus.
WordPress
WordPress dialogs should restore focus on close.
Wix
Wix lightboxes should close with Escape.
