Fix meaning shown only by colour
If colour is the only cue, people who cannot see that colour miss the message.
A red border with no text is not an error message.
Steps
- View the page in greyscale.
- Errors and required fields should still be clear.
- Add text or a named icon.
Failing example
Required fields are only a red border.
Better example
The label includes the word Required.
Shopify
In Shopify forms, add the word Required or an error message, not only a red outline.
WooCommerce
Keep WooCommerce error text. Do not hide the message and leave a red field.
WordPress
Show the form plugin's text error in WordPress.
Wix
In Wix, show the field error as text.
